

Now, with the registry change in place, the video capture has not caused crashes in three attempts. Until this fix, I could crash it on 2/3 of video capture attempts. Apparently this option is not exposed in the UI.

Upon seeing it, they sent me a registry file that changed video capture to use software methods instead of hardware. They reached out to me over the weekend and requested a crash dump of the video capture error. It seems TechSmith may also be attempting to use hardware to capture video as well. It's hard to know just how much I have to use it before I can declare victory, but so far, so good. I've also not seen a repeat of the black screen issue I reported since making this change. The delay in capturing was overcome with the checkbox setting I spoke of earlier. Those of you who've read my comments above will have learned that since my initial posting, TechSmith revealed they have changed from software to hardware for rendering and capture as of SnagIt 2018. Most importantly, v13 shows none of these symptoms using the same platform, so I'm hopeful that simplified cursor will also address the black out issues, but time will tell.

Reinstalling v13 makes all these problems go away on the same Windows 10 圆4 system, with no video driver changes or other configuration mods.Īnyone else seeing any of these or other symptoms? I've downloaded the latest SnagIt patches and this behavior is still the same for both releases of 2018. This too is intermittent, but it happens more often than not.
